Tutoring the King’s Kids

Working in Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry sometimes feels like a thankless task. . .

but let me assure you of one thing. . .

your Heavenly Father treasures every second, every moment that you are putting into His Kids. . .

you know why?

YOU are tutoring the King’s Kids. . .

you’re not the nanny or the governess. . .

YOU hold a place of honor in the King’s house. . .the Tutor. . .

and with honor comes responsibility. . .

what if you, in your own way are the only one who ever gets through to that child. . .

that specific child who is an Heir to the throne. . .

every moment you spend teaching that child about the majesty of his Father will be rewarded. . .

Don’t give up. . .every seed you are planting has the possibility of becoming an abundant harvest. . .

and then your King, your Heavenly Father will crown you. . .and say JOB WELL DONE. . .

which will make it all worth it!

I find this song to be a huge encouragement, and hope you will too. . .

Embracing Our New Reality

Long before we ever retired, Dave and I discussed what we would love to do as we traveled full time in our RV around the country. . .we would love to visit small churches who are still working to get established, and offer encouragement to Youth and Children's Ministry teams.

Not being ministers, but having worked in ministry for years, we understand the need for affirmation. . .the need to know what you are doing is worthwhile. . .that all the hours spent researching, studying, and then teaching are not in vain. . .

That was our plan. . .and yet, three years later. . .here we are. . .enjoying life. . .traveling the country. . .having a great time. . .offering a word of encouragement here and there. . .and yet knowing we are not fulfilling our mission. . .so last week we began laying a foundation to begin in earnest the task to which we were appointed. . .we lay a fleece before the Lord, as it were. . .and said. . ."Okay, Lord. . .we are willing. . .show us the way you would have us go."

and then. . .following this week of discussion and introspection. . .what was Sunday's message?

Pastor Albritton doesn't know us, or much of anything about us. . .other than the fact that we come from Texas. . .that we are from First Church in Pearland TX. . .and that we worked in Children's Ministry for several years.

Yet, as he began speaking about Elijah passing the mantle to Elisha. . .I immediately wrote MENTORSHIP in my notes. . .seconds later, Dave leaned over and said, "this falls right in with our Mission Statement."

Our prayer today is to Embrace OUR New Reality. . .willing to go where we are lead. . .following in the footsteps of generations who have gone before. . .leading by example a new generation who will come after. . .by the grace and mercy of God. . .in Jesus Name!
